The Little Things

A quick visit to Spis Castle

When the group first arrived in Slovakia we stood upon the Europa shopping center, over looking downtown Banská Bystrica, we began praying for the city. That day God revealed that worship is powerful and we needed to focus on the little things.  We didn't realize that this would hold true through out our stay. More often then not we saw worship break barriers and a small smile change a life.

 Our last week in Slovakia was a blessed one. We traveled to the second biggest city, Kosice were we worked with a church in Sabinov right out side the city. We went to different gypsy villages singing songs, giving testimonies and really just showing them a kind and accepting heart; the heart of the father. We experienced the out pouring of God's love and how a simple prayer of healing can show the power of God.With this being said the team really experienced how God has everything under His control and according to His plan but this story is best told by our Leader JP:

'Well, the team and I are having worship and interession on Wednesday when all of a sudden I start having pains in my back. I think They are just normal pains until it begins to increase and move around to my stomach. Not wanting to alarm the team, I don't say what is wrong, I just go up stairs and lie down but the pain gets worse and worse.  I think okay I should probably go to the hospital and get this checked out. I tell the team what is wrong, we pray and then head to the hospital. On our way to the hospital the team is praying and Martin (our translator) is calling some of his friends asking them to pray too.  When we get to the hospital and my pain just goes through the roof. I'm sweating and can barely stand, the pain becomes too much for me.  Steve Kilbry, from the Slovakia team in Banská Bystrica, also calls the rest of his team back in Banscä, tells them what is going on and has them praying for me. Within 5 minutes after Steve's phone call my pain vanishes. Just completely gone. The doctor still took some x-rays but of course there was nothing wrong. During all of this time Martin is praying for people in the hospital. He comes up to one woman, tells her about the Gospel and the love of God. The lady, accompanied by her son, is having horrible stomach pains, Martin asks if he can pray for her but she doesn't answer. So Martin prays. Just a short but direct, maybe 30 second prayer of healing.  Martin finishes praying looks up and asks "Is it better?" She doesn't answer but tears start welling up in her eyes and trickle down her face. The son, who has been standing there the whole time with a dumbstruck look on his face, asks urgently "Is it better?" The woman just nods. Apparently God really needed us at the hospital that day and he made sure we got there!'

It is so cool how God uses every situation to share his love and show his power to his children.

We want to shout out a special thanks to the Slovakia Base in Banská. They did so much for all of us, probably more than they know.We were very sad to leave Slovakia and the wonderful team there. However, we are excited to be in Sliven, Bulgaria.  Everyone is settling in nicely, enjoying the beautiful nature and ready for God has planned next.

Als unser Team in der Slowakei ankam und wir am ersten Tag auf dem Dach des Europa-Shoppingcenters standen, offenbarte uns Gott, wie kraftvoll Lobpreis ist und dass wir unseren Fokus auf die kleinen Dinge richten sollen. Wir realisierten noch nicht, dass das wirklich Einzug über unseren ganzen Aufenthalt in der Slowakei halten wird. Wir haben erlebt, wie Lobpreis Barrieren bricht und ein kleines Lächeln ein ganzes Leben verändern kann. Und unsere letzte Woche war davon ganz besonders gesegnet. Wir reisten nach Kosice, in die zweitgrößte Stadt der Slowakei und arbeiteten etwas außerhalb der Stadt mit einer Roma-Kirche zusammen.

Wir gingen zu verschiedenen Roma-Siedlungen, sangen, gaben Zeugnisse und zeigten ihnen ein gütiges und akzeptierendes Herz - das Vaterherz Gottes. Wir erlebten, wir Gott wirklich seine Liebe ausgoß und wie ein einfaches Gebet Heilung hervorrufen und Gottes Kraft zeigen kann. Wir erlebten, dass Gott alles unter Kontrolle hat, aber von diesen Erfahrungen kann am besten unseren Leiter JP erzählen:

"Nun, das Team und ich hatten am Mittwoch Morgen eine Lobpreis- und Fürbittezeit, als ich plötzlich Schmerzen in meinem Rücken bekam. Ich dachte, es seien ganz unbedeutende Schmerzen, bis sie stärker wurden und der Schmerz bis in meinen Magen wanderte. Um das Team nicht unnötig zu alarmieren, ging ich einfach in mein Zimmer um mich hinzulegen aber der Schmerz wurde stärker und stärker. Ich dachte, es wäre das beste ins Krankenhaus zu fahren und es untersuchen zu lassen. Auf dem Weg ins Krankenhaus betete das Team und Martin (unser Übersetzer) rief einige seiner Freunde an und bat sie, auch zu beten. Im Krankenhaus angekommen, hatte der Schmerz seinen Höhepunkt erreicht. Ich schwitzte und konnte kaum noch stehen, der Schmerz wurde unerträglich. Steve, aus dem slowakischen YWAM-Team in Banská Bystrica, forderte auch den Rest seiner Mannschaft auf, für mich zu beten. Innerhalb von 5 Minuten nach Steves Anruf war meinen Schmerz verschwunden. Einfach verschwunden. Der Arzt machte noch einige Röntgenaufnahmen, aber natürlich war alles in Ordnung. Während all dieser Zeit betete Martin im Wartezimmer für verschiedene Patienten. Er erzählte einer Patientin vom Evangelium und der Liebe Gottes. Die Dame, begleitet von ihrem Sohn, war mit schrecklichen Bauchschmerzen in die Klinik gekommen. Martin fragte, ob er für sie bete dürfe aber sie antwortete nicht. Martin betete also einfach los, ein ganz kurzes Gebet, vielleicht 30 Sekunden lang und bat dabei Gott um Heilung. „Ist es besser?" fragte er aber sie antwortete nicht. Stattdessen schossen Tränen aus ihren Augen und liefen über ihr Gesicht. Der Sohn, der die Situation die ganze Zeit beobachtet hatte, fragte mit sprachlosen Blick noch einmal: "Ist es besser?". Die Frau nickte. Offenbar hatte uns Gott wirklich an diesem Tag im Krankenhaus gebraucht!

Wie toll ist es, dass Gott uns in jeder Situation nutzt, um seinen Kindern seine Kraft zu zeigen?

An dieser Stelle wollen wir noch ganz besonders der slowakischen Base in Banská danken. Sie haben so viel für uns gemacht, vermutlich mehr als wir erahnen. Ein wenig wehmütig verließen wir die Slowakei und das wundervolle Team da. Trotz allem waren wir auch gespannt auf Sliven in Bulgarien, unserer zweiten Station. Wir sind gut angekommen, genießen die traumhafte Natur und sind bereit für das, was Gott als nächstes mit uns plant.
